Trackball

Vial Configuration

The trackball functions are defined in the User tab in Vial. To use the function, you must first assign the key to your keyboard layout in Vial, then press the key on the keyboard. Mouse over the keys in the bottom tray in Vial to get a clearer name than what is urrently displayed. Each trackball (left/right) has it's own set of control functions. If it seems like a function isn't working, double check that it is for the correct hand of trackball.

Default Sensitivity Controls

• increase trackball sensitivity - this will increase the sensitivity of the trackball. Once it reaches the maximum, it will roll back around to the minimum sensitivity.
• decrease trackball sensitivity - this will decrease the sensitivity on the trackball. Once it reaches the minimum, it will roll back around to the maximum sensitivity.

Sniping Mode

Sniping mode allows you to drop into a lower sensitivity for more precise pointer movements. It can be either toggled or active-while-held.

• increase trackball sniping sensitivity - this will increase the sniping sensitivity on the left/right trackball. Once it reaches the maximum, it will roll back around to the minimum sensitivity.
• decrease trackball sniping sensitivity - this will decrease the sniping sensitivity on the left/right trackball. Once it reaches the minimum, it will roll back around to the maximum sensitivity.
• sniping mode - enter sniping mode while this key is held.
• toggle sniping mode - press to enter sniping mode until this key is pressed again.

Drag Scroll Mode

Drag scrolling allows you to change the functionality of your trackball to scroll rather than moving the pointer. It can be either toggled or active-while-held.

• drag scroll mode - enter drag scroll mode while this key is held.
• toggle drag scroll mode - press to enter drag scroll mode until this key is pressed again.

Default User Keycode Assignments

There is a set of 8 functions for each trackball (left and right). If your keyboard only has one trackball, you can just ignore the other functions.

• Left Hand: User 0-7
  • User 0: increase trackball sensitivity
  • User 1: decrease trackball sensitivity
  • User 2: increase trackball sniping sensitivity
  • User 3: decrease trackball sniping sensitivity
  • User 4: sniping mode
  • User 5: toggle sniping mode
  • User 6: drag scroll mode
  • User 7: toggle drag scroll mode
• Right Hand: User 8-15
  • User 8: increase trackball sensitivity
  • User 9: decrease trackball sensitivity
  • User 10: increase trackball sniping sensitivity
  • User 11: decrease trackball sniping sensitivity
  • User 12: sniping mode
  • User 13: toggle sniping mode
  • User 14: drag scroll mode
  • User 15: toggle drag scroll mode
