Troubleshooting
Most wireless Cyboards work the moment you turn them on. When something isn't behaving, the fixes below cover almost everything we see. They're written for wireless Cyboards (the ZMK-based Imprint, Dactyl, and Speller). If you have a wired Cyboard, it runs Vial instead — most "it stopped working" problems there are solved by re-flashing from the vial-qmk releases.
Start here
- Can't pair, or it pairs but won't type? → Connection Issues
- An error popped up while dragging the
.uf2firmware file across? → Flashing Issues - Halves won't talk to each other, or a profile is stuck? → Reset Your Keyboard's Pairing
The Speller's own user manual has a troubleshooting section written specifically for it, including the simplified one-button pairing. Check there first — this section covers the wider ZMK picture and applies to every wireless Cyboard.

Because we build and validate every keyboard before it ships, hardware faults are rare — so reach out and we'll get you sorted rather than sending you down a soldering rabbit hole.
Looking for the full ZMK docs?
Our keyboards run ZMK, and these pages are a Cyboard-focused distillation of ZMK's own troubleshooting guides. If you want the complete, unfiltered reference (including advanced cases that rarely apply to shipped Cyboards), see the upstream ZMK troubleshooting docs.
